Olympic 100-metre champion Usain Bolt is using Sunday's race on a Rio de Janeiro beach as a way to measure his progress going forward.
The Jamaican world-record holder competed only in the 4x100m relay at the recent Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, helping his team to a widely anticipated gold medal.
And Bolt has vowed to give the weekend's race his all as he looks to assess his form heading into the remainder of the season.
"For me, I don't know what to expect," he said. "I went to the Commonwealth Games and I got two 4x100 runs in which is good, so this is my first individual event.
"I've been training good, I've been feeling good, my coach is happy with my performance in Glasgow so I'm definitely looking forward to coming here.
"I'm going to go there and run as fast as I can, need to see where I'm at in the season, so looking forward to it."
